Avalanche Safety Tips Every Mountain Rider Should Know.

The mountains are about to open up — but before you pin it up the next chute, make sure you’re ready.

Every season, experienced riders get caught in slides that could have been avoided. So while GGB builds exhaust to push your sled harder and higher, we’re also here to remind you to ride smart.

Check the forecast.
Before every ride, hit up your local avalanche center (Avalanche.org, Avalanche.ca, etc.) for updated danger ratings. Conditions can change overnight.

Pack your gear — and know how to use it.
Beacon, probe, shovel. No exceptions. Take a minute to practice with your group before heading out.

Ride with a plan.
Pick safe zones, identify escape routes, and always ride one at a time on steep slopes.

Stay alert to red flags.
Fresh slides, cracking snow, or a hollow “whumph” sound = back off and reassess.

Take an avalanche safety course.
If you haven’t yet, this is the season. Knowledge is what saves lives
